When we are designing a page, we usually consider the content and technical aspects than the other ones. And why should we do that? That’s what page designing is all about in the first place, right? But there is wisdom too in considering other not so significant aspect because they have great potential in messing up your page. One of these minor things is called spacing.
If we try to put too much content in one page, the space becomes too crowded and highly unreadable. If we try too put very little content on the other hand, it would be a waste of space generally speaking. But if there is pressing reason to put plenty or very content on one page, proper spacing can still help us.
On the other hand, when there is just enough content to be placed on one spacious page spacing can also lend great help.
Space does many things for you. It makes your copy easier to read. Space makes your over-all composition easier on the eyes of the audience. And space also makes your design look elegant.
Having a system is first on the list when it comes to spacing. Unless your GOAL is to make the entire layout look random, you’re going to need a plan. This is usually accomplished with a grid. The grid can be any style you want. But you need to have an underlying system to what you’re about to do. Here are a few examples of different grids, just so you can get a sense of how different or unique your grid can be.

The figures represent the basic spacing systems through allotting grid lines. Of course, you can still come up with plenty of grid line systems other these.
The grid systems were adapted from http://www.gomediazine.com/design-tip/rule-four-spacing-is-your-friend/.
Lining things up in a grid is a method on how you attain a methodical way in spacing your content regardless of what kind of content that is. By lining things in a grid, you can give your page a fresh and organized look that readers will love.
