Universally Accessible Websites

For Graphic Interfaces to be accessible an important issue in any operating system of a soft ware program. For web authors and programmers, this is the number one priority, without it, software programs are considered useless. This idea is also applied in web sites construction, for web designers, websites should be user friendly and accessible to all navigators.

In the wide world of websites, the re-birth of new technologies in can make it less accessible for users because technology changes rapidly daily, navigators finds it difficult to cope with the developing technology. A manager for example who trained to a phoenix base soft ware such as the age old framework, will have to adjust to a much higher world wide web program to be considered updated and not become an object of joke in the office. Today, transmitting relevant ideas and information globally was made possible in the virtual world For those who are digital citizens it is easier for them to adjust in working with an advance technology, but for the digital immigrants, it is very difficult to work with a fast pace web technology.

Accessibility Defined

The word “accessibility” technically means that the web has the capacity to be used by disabled users. Disabled users are those who physically disadvantage such as color blindness and dyslexia. This concept is also used in other domains.
Web Users with Physical Disabilities
• Navigators with Color blindness; these are visually impaired users who cannot tell the difference between red and orange.
• Dyslexics, these are users with dyslexia; who cannot read or understand words, paragraphs or text.
• Digital Immigrants, this are users who are just learning the ropes on how to use a computer. The disability of these users is not permanent, since they are highly motivated to learn to use a software program or a computer machine.
Other Limitations
• Some countries still use small sized computers with text screen only; however these are already being phased out.
• Multi tasking people and at the same time navigating the web.
• Some users prefer to use older browsers, voice browser or other software systems on which the web site cannot be accessed easily. Several types of browsers are Google, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Yahoo to name a few.
• Some web navigators may not understand the language inside the web site. For example a Chinese national learning English may not easily understand an English Website thoroughly.
People with permanent physical disabilities are a challenged for the web designers. To aim at allowing them to access the internet at anytime is not only a viable market but also an admirable cause. Information accessibility is open to everyone, and technology can help a lot. The fast growing technology especially in inventing software programs can be of big help for physical disabled users.
