The Dark Side of Blogs

Blog is turning out to be a powerful medium to express your ideas online. The blogging business is rising day by day which results in vast number blogs overflowing the Web world. But there are many blogs which are not up to the mark and keep the visitors away. Visitors find these blogs annoying and wastage of time.

Most of the bloggers have yet to come in terms with using so many clutters on their blogs. The blogs that are filled with so many clutters make the information to blow up. Readers always seek an understandable path to chase when going through a blog.

Readers more often do not receive any reply to their comments. When readers come across a good post, they are tempted to post a comment and subscribe to the comments’ RSS feed so that they won’t miss out of the blogger’s answer. But they keep on waiting and the reply never comes. If the same situation persists, then your readers will never comment again as they feel it as expenditure of time only. Sometimes, it is impossible to give reply to all your comments. It is especially true in case of a popular blog. But you should make honest effort from your part and try to reply most of them.

Most internet surfers want to know quickly what a blog is all about. Your content may be excellent and you may have a great about page. But average Internet users care a little about them. They need to know the topic of your blog instantly. For this, you can put a visual signal in your headline. Ensure that your blog title and tagline is catchy and interesting. Try to provide enough information to readers through this title.

Many bloggers make a dubious choice of background color and the text color. The text is also so small that readers can hardly read them. So your readers will soon leave your site and never come back again. Black text on a light background is the most preferred one. Choose a font type that easily flows from one word to the next. If your blog content is very lengthy, then make use of proper sized paragraphs. It provides a nice look to your content. Always go for spacious areas for bigger paragraphs and narrow areas for small paragraphs.

Bloggers often ignore the layout of their blogs. They provide less attention towards it. They opt for common blog themes which are found in every second blog website. As a result, their blogs look dull, imitative and unexciting. To overcome this problem, purchase a distinct layout from a professional web designer or look around to get a more uncommon theme for your blog.

The bloggers give more attention to them rather than their readers. Blogs are a two-way communication process. So the best way to keep your visitors interested is to talk about them. Make less use of “I”. Develop an environment where everyone can participate and share their views, ideas and thoughts.

Some bloggers do it less and some others do it excess. Using more graphics and images than required can irritate your readers. Make sure that your design is not too heavy and avoid excessive uses of images. The visitors may vanish away if the page takes too long to load.

The blogs also contain too many typos which are difficult to understand. It creates a bad impression for the blogger. So use a proof reading program and read your posts several times before making them public.
