Benefits of using CSS for web design

Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), a boon for web designers, why? Let us see the reasons one after the other.

a) Loading of pages is faster: Say for example, you are designing a web page with tables nested inside each page. Will this decrease the download speed or not? Sure…it will. However, in the case of CSS, it is not so as all the styles are in one style sheet.

b) Logical presentation of data: It is easy to present the data logically in your website using CSS.

c) Easy to edit: Need to add or change information in your website? Simply go and edit the definition instead of searching and replacing each and every entry…it’s such an easy task in CSS. Just think how it would be if you had to edit, say 1000 pages.

d) Decrease mess: Irrelevant, redundant and superfluous HTML codes are kept away and therefore, easy to edit the code and is neat and clean.

e) Search engine optimization: Many of you would be aware of the fact that the content that is closer to the top of a HTML document is given more weight by Google. With CSS, it is easy to achieve this. You simply have to ensure that the content you wish to appear is placed first and the source code following it.

f) File size is smaller: File size of the HTML document is reduced when using CSS as the tables are present in one styling sheet instead of nested tables.

g) Get rid of JavaScript: Worried how to get beautiful navigation that JavaScript creates and at the same time protect your system against vulnerable viruses and pop-ups? Answer is simple…simply use CSS.

h) More control on the website design: Do you feel that you will have to frequently update and edit your webpage? If the answer to this question is yes, you should go for CSS as you get more options for editing and is simpler.

i) Money and time are saved: It is possible to store the commonly used style sheets in a special file and then re-use it with little or no modifications. This way you can save time as well as money.

j) User-friendly: Documents can be prepared or customized in such a way that they are read by Braille devices, text telephone devices and speech synthesizers.

k) Easy to print: For easy printing, it is possible to call up an alternative CSS document thereby color, images, and other things that are difficult to get printed can be avoided.

l) Trouble-free and easy design: Contemporary designs that are hard to duplicate can be created using CSS. Pixel precision is possible.

With all the above benefits listed, I’m sure that future of web design is geared towards the usage of CSS. Loads and loads of information about CSS are available over the Internet. Read them and make your website unique and beautiful.

I’m using CSS ‘cos it’s easy to edit and good for search engines - it’s important for me, ‘cos i’m getting money from ads.
