Just wanted to know which is a better option to design a website. Is designing a website in html a better option or a wordpress blog would be ideal. I just read somewhere that designing a static website in wordpress will result in slow search engine rankings. Is this true?

All I would like to say is if you are good enough in coding then html website is probably the best option. If there is anything, which displeases me about wordpress blog, is that I cannot easily fix any codes there (professional coding).

I would try none. I do not like either. I always go about designing my website in modx. I find it very easy and powerful as compared to wordpress.

I would opt for wordpress. I find it pretty straightforward. Also it is search engine friendly. Not sure why you said that it will slow the search engine rankings.

If you would like to speed up your job and make difficult things look easy then I would recommend you to use wordpress blog. Wordpress eases the process of editing, there is option whereby the reader can comment about a particular blog post, different plugins can be easily installed which can make the blog more search engine friendly. Similarly there are RSS Feeds.

I agree with Charles that wordpress is easy to use and search engine friendly with all its powerful plugins. The only negative aspect, which I find in Wordpress, is that you have to design the site and integrate the same into CSS (that too of course if you need an appealing design other than the default template)

Thanks for all the wonderful suggestions. However I am still not clear whether designing a site in html will attract Search Engines more or will wordpress attract Search Engines more.

If you install the right plugins I would say wordpress blogs is more search engine friendly as compared to a static html site. You also have to configure Seo friendly permalinks in admin panel, for all your pages to be optimized.
